Spatial memory

Spatial memory is a person’s knowledge of the space around them, and their whereabouts in it. It also encompasses all memories of areas and places, and how to get to and from them. Human spatial cognition represents a more complex set of processes and mechanisms that is designed to handle a diverse set of experiences, cues, and symbols. In fact, individuals can build vivid spatial representations for places they might never actually navigate, including both real-world and fictional settings.
